“An occasionally contentious interview between Kanye West and Matt Lauer taped for NBC’s “Today” show in some ways conforms with a preemptive critique that Mr. West posted on his Twitter account, but at times appears to contradict the rapper’s fiery recollection of it.
On Tuesday night, Mr. West wrote of an interview he recorded that morning with Mr. Lauer, a “Today” co-host. Mr. West said he intended to respond to remarks by former President George W. Bush, who has said that Mr. West’s criticism that he did not care about black people after Hurricane Katrina was “one of the most disgusting moments” of his presidency.
Mr. West wrote on his Twitter feed, “I went up there to express how I was empathetic to Bush because I labeled him a racist and years later I got labeled as a racist.” Instead, Mr. West said, “While I was trying to give the interview they started playing the ‘MTV’ under me with audio,” referring to the incident in which Mr. West interrupted an acceptance speech by Taylor Swift at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards.”
Is the the Taylor Swift issue really similar to Kanye West’s statement against Pres. Bush and the lack of response during the Katrina disaster? And even if you are going to lazily try and reverse the racism argument on a guest don’t run a clip with sound while the person is emotionally trying to explain themself. It’s not surprising Matt Lauer has gone for controversy first rather than conducting a serious interview. I still remember how he savagely attacked his majesty Tom Cruise (Valour Captain Thetan Level 7) on the Today Show a few years ago. Fucker. Mr Lauer why do you hate black people and Scientologists? And another thing, not to rehash old wounds, but Beyonce really did have one of the best videos of all time. Why did Taylor Swift win?
At this point, I’d like to quote Stephen Colbert, “George Bush’s biography “Decision Points” has been released and it is a big hefty book like “War and Peace”, except without the peace stuff.”
