The key players of The Hangover have finished up a lengthy series of talks and are about to sign a deal to make a sequel. Deadline reports that after six long months of negotiations, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have come to an agreement with stars Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms as well as director/producer Todd Phillips.

The actors will each get around $5 million against 4% of first dollar gross, while Phillips will do around $10 million against 10%. That includes a provision for the director that will ensure that he won’t make less than he did on the original -which reportedly has already passed the $50 million mark. The sequel may start shooting in October.

Deadline explains that it was a tough deal to negotiate, in part because the three stars had made less than a million collectively on the original, a film that became the highest-grossing R-rated comedy ever. The film made $277,313,371 in the USA alone, not to mention world wide sales and future DVD and Blu-ray business on the back end. None of this was expected and so the stars weren’t locked into a sequel. But they did have “teams of managers, agents and attorneys who negotiated together, determined about one thing: Warners and Legendary weren’t getting another Hangover unless the trio got paid well.”

Well, they’re about to.

To celebrate the announcement of a sequel. My gift to you is a classy Zach Galifianakis wallpaper. You’re welcome.
