British celebrity chef Martin Blunos recently created the world’s most expensive cheese sandwich. Between the two slices of sourdough was a bespoke white truffle cheese, dressed with 100-year-old balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil, “and then layered cheese, slices of quail’s egg, heirloom black tomato, epicure apple, and fresh figs.” He worked with experienced cheddar producers at Pilgrim’s Choice to create the bespoke white truffle cheese which is the most expensive part. All of this was then topped off with edible gold dust. The sumptuous snack will set you back $178. Served with a free side of “why the hell did I just spend $178 on a cheese sandwich.” Gold dust? No thanks, I’m trying to quit.

I think it costs extra if you ask to have it toasted.
